CITA recently had the pleasure of visiting with the Cayman Prep students for their event, Cayman Culture Week. The topic being discussed was ‘How is the tourism industry important to the Cayman Islands?” in which CITA was invited to make presentations. CITA Watersports Director, Ash McKnight, and Hollie Whitelocke from the Executive Office attended the event and spoke with students for an hour on this subject. The students were very interested in the presentations and actively participated by answering questions posed to them, as well as presenting a variety of thoughtful questions. Ash noted, that “the tourism lecture was a real hit with the kids”. Both Ash and Hollie expressed how impressed they were with the students thought process and interest in the tourism industry.
Mrs. Whitelocke had this to share about the experience, “These young people truly inspired me during my presentation on the importance of the tourism industry in the Cayman Islands. I am more hopeful about the future knowing these great minds and pure hearts are helping shape the world as we know it. I’m thankful for the opportunity to not only teach them, but to also learn from them during Cayman Culture Week at Cayman Prep. Clare Dyett, who assisted in organizing the event had this to say about CITA’s participation, “Thank you for supporting teaching and learning in Cayman Prep and High School. We look forward to seeing you again!” Clare Dyett (Prep Kindergarten Teacher).
